Guide to Wellness in Autumn, The time to detox summer toxins before winter.
It's the time to detox summer toxins and boost the immune system before winter.
Living with the seasons is living with awareness.
In Autumn everything in nature begins to shed and release what it does not need for the hibernation of winter. The leaves and bark are falling from the trees, giving back to the earth, creating compost at their base through the winter months, ready to bloom and thrive for spring.
We, humans, are the same, when Autumn comes around our body naturally starts to move the heat toxins from summer, (especially from the Christmas and new year period).
With Ayurveda, (an ancient eastern medical system) we live by the seasons.
As above, so bellow.
Autumn is a time to detox and readjust our diet and lifestyle to live more harmoniously with the current conditions.
The Air and space element rises as does the wind and dryness in the environment. This is what stirs up accumulated toxins in the body, causing more inflammation and illnesses which makes Autumn and spring changing seasons, the perfect time to detox.
Have you noticed the levels of sickness beginning to raise in your workplace, family, and friends? The hay fever, the sniffles, sore throats, achy joints, and digestive issues are all beginning to arise.
At this time we urge you to listen to your body and utilise the following tips to avoid sickness and discomfort leading into winter.
We have several products that can help strengthen our immune system to prepare us for the change in season and the colder months like shitake immune and cellular repair, immune pack, turkeys tail as well as the daily consumption of Hemp Seeds, and Ubuntu CFC's to activate our endocannabinoid system.
Five Autumn Wellness tips.
1~Bringing in warmth and grounding meals
As soon as the season settles into more coolness and wind; void cold juices and cold smoothies, encouraging in more warmth by adding warm water or warmed milk and warming spices like cinnamon and ginger. Replacing cold breakfasts like cereal with warm porridges, warm spiced smoothies, Kitchari, and roasted root vegetables and Vegetable soups.
Using an array and abundance of spices Ginger, Turmeric, Cumin, Coriander seeds and Fennel.
Of course, always add your hemp seeds!

2~Daily morning Lemon water
Kick start your metabolism and digestive system to eliminate toxins first thing in the morning.
1/2-1/4 of fresh lemon, 1 teaspoon of freshly grated ginger, and lemon skin, and 1/2 teaspoon of honey.
First, add grated ginger to the cup, fill 1/2 of boiling water then top the rest up with room temp water. Squeeze the lemon and add the honey. Stir & enjoy.
Please note that honey and lemon are affected by high heat so it is important to add them after the cold water is added.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of Ajwain seeds in Autumn & Winter for added medicinal benefits and also 1/2 teaspoon of fresh or powdered turmeric if you are prone to arthritis, inflammation, or sickness.
3~Drink 3 Herbal teas a day.
Herbal tea is a great way to soothe the system, and aid in detoxification and digestion. Drinking herbal tea after and between meals benefits the whole digestive system.
I recommend teas including these herbs:
Peppermint, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Tulsi, Dandelion root, Turmeric, Nettle, St Mary’s thistle.

4~Daily Detoxing Oil Massage
Body massage is key in Ayurvedic medicine to release toxins from the skin, lymphatic system and create embodiment, grounding your mind and body
Massage can be done 20 minutes before a shower or straight after a shower, in the morning, or at night before bed.
Ubuntu foundation bone oil or warm black sesame oil can assist greatly in relaxing and detoxing.
The oil can be warmed by an oil burner or put your oil in a small dropper bottle and put the bottle in a cup filled with boiling water. When the oil is warmed it will penetrate deeper into the tissues.
Directions:
Start by massaging your feet – ladies left foot and leg first and men, start with your right foot, and right leg.
Work your way up to your legs, hips and focus on the areas with cellulite, pain, or dryness. When you get the abdomen massage anti-clockwise, up the right side, across the top and down the left. Really get into the stomach as this is the seat of all our main organs and where we hold emotional tension.
Move onto arms, fingers up the shoulders.
For the chest, really concentrate on massaging the breasts, between the shoulder and breast, and under the arm.
Massage the neck and as much of the back as possible.
Breathe deep and enjoy the connection with your body.
Ayurveda, daily detoxing, and self-care is all about getting into a routine and creating healthy, nurturing self-loving habits. Give it a try and see the benefits and difference in yourself and your health!
Many Autumn blessings,
